Welcome
Welcome to the Live Well: Reproductive and Sexual Health teacher's guide.
Congratulations! You have complete access to the teacher resources that will help you deliver the Live Well: Reproductive and Sexual Health program.
This teacher’s guide contains all the tools you need to easily implement a flexible, customizable program, including 16 lesson plans corresponding to the lessons in the interactive web text. You will be able to tailor the program to the needs of your students and your school. For example, of the 16 total lessons, you can select various options from the following list to best suit your curriculum:
- Abstinence
- Abstinence and Contraception
- Adolescence and Puberty
- Conception and Pregnancy
- Conception and Pregnancy (Comprehensive Version)
- Dating Relationships
- Dating Relationships (this version of the lesson includes content on sexual orientation and affirmative consent)
- Female Reproductive System
- Male Reproductive System
- Relationships and Communication Skills
- Reproductive System in People With Ovaries
- Reproductive System in People With Testicles
- Sexual Activity and Affirmative Consent
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Including HIV and AIDS

You will assign lessons one at a time to the students through HKPropel. For example, if you want students to study the lesson solely on Abstinence, assign that lesson. The students will not have access to the more detailed Abstinence and Contraception lesson unless you specifically assign it to them. This is true for each lesson in this product. The following chart breaks down lessons that cover foundational topics versus lessons that are comprehensive and use more inclusive language.

Each lesson of Live Well: Reproductive and Sexual Health comes with supporting ancillaries for students and teachers. These materials are designed to progress student learning in a way that builds critical health skills grounded in functional health knowledge. Each lesson has a corresponding lesson planning chart with links to all associated instructor and student resources. Some elements are editable and should be customized to fit your class. For example, the optional Understanding My Health preassessment is a simple questionnaire where students can answer Yes or No to determine what they already know and what they don’t. You may wish to remove certain items from the preassessment if you will not be teaching them, such as “I can explain what sexual orientation is” or “I can explain what gender identity means.” Many materials are modifiable to allow teachers to make adjustments that best suit the characteristics and readiness of their students, the unique and nuanced standards and expectations of their school districts and states, and the specific strengths of the teachers themselves.
